Maldon Monday

It was May Day bank holiday and we headed over to Maldon with our cameras, it was a dry day, but rain was forecast for later. We ended up in the Promenade Park car park and went down to Hythe Quay to look at the barges with their russet/red sails.

The place was a buzz, so many families out and about enjoying themselves. Below are my photos,

A broody sky across the Blackwater River at Hythe Quay

Geese enjoying the mud.

Some of the Thames Barges moored up,

I wonder what this coot is looking at.

We saw this swan fly in, loving the rippled reflection alongside a black headed gull.

A very shiny and well groomed crow pottering about near the car park.

A Little bit of Scotland

We had a beautiful day to go and visit Stirling Castle, we drove from Glasgow with my two boys and the weather got better as we drove there the castle stood out as we got nearer and the weather just kept improving.

The castle was first mentioned around 1110 and has been occupied and rebuilt numerous times. The guides on site were fabulous and were very knowledgeable and it was a great to see and hear about Stirling Castle, the surrounding area and its history.
